Memory Stick Revolutionized Portable Storage

Portable storage has evolved so much in the past two decades: from magnetic tapes to floppy disks to zip drives to the memory stick or thumb drive. The popularity of memory sticks was a product of the wide adoption of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and the exponential improvement of flash memory storage. Whereas just a decade ago we were limited to storing less than 2 megabytes of data into a 3.5-inch floppy disk, nowadays we can store and move gigabytes worth of movies using the all-reliable memory stick.
